Nothing sparks some holiday cheer quite like "A Charlie Brown Christmas," a beloved family classic.

The first "Peanuts" holiday special, which premiered in 1965, follows the story of our favorite pensive and often mopey protagonist Charlie Brown, who struggles to hide his disappointment over the commercialization of Christmas.

"Isn't there anyone who knows what Christmas is all about?" Brown cries.

Brown struggles to show the rest of the Peanuts gang the true meaning of the holiday.

But his friends pleasantly surprise him by the end of the movie, working together to decorate a small and unassuming Christmas tree for him.

"Peanuts" specials, including "A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving" and "It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown," have become a holiday rite of passage since the 60s.
